About AMDETECH

The seven senior staff members of AMDETECH have a combined one hundred-forty (140) years of law enforcement canine training experience. Our handlers come from law enforcement, military, search and rescue and sport and/or working dog training backgrounds. We do not hire our handlers off the street and train them to some minimal standard to fulfill a contract.

AMDETECH carries liability coverage in the amount of ten million dollars ($10,000,000). We are able to have any client added to our policy as an additionally insured party. To our knowledge, none of our competitors can offer anything approaching this level of protection. We will provide proof of insurance upon request.

In 2006, AMDETECH took a giant step forward in human resource services by partnering with SCI Companies, Inc., a Professional Employer Organization (PEO). The Tampa, Florida-based PEO provides AMDETECH with a nationwide payroll service and standardized worker's compensation coverage. With a client base of more than 600 companies, SCI is able to give AMDETECH uniform coverage and payroll reporting services in every operational location. This ensures governmental compliance in each state, and protects our client base by providing coverage of our handlers in the event of a worksite accident resulting in injury. We urge you to ask for this information from any detector dog services vendor you might consider retaining. We are confident that most companies cannot produce proof of coverage, because the handlers they use are independent contractors, not employees of the vendor.

AMDETECH provides its clients with a secure internet-based reporting system for detailed reports of each search. Information can be cross-referenced by client, date, ship and/or location.

AMDETECH is properly licensed to provide its services. We maintain all of the necessary municipal, state and federal licenses and permits to be in complete regulatory compliance, including licensing by the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATFE) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Copies of these will be provided on request. The majority of our competitors cannot provide the same documentation. If a detector dog service company does not have a license to possess explosives, they are not training their dogs on actual explosive odors; they are training on simulated odors. Those inert substances were developed for use as a short-term, limited aid to in-service training exercises where real explosives could not be used. All evaluations and certifications MUST be done with actual explosions to be considered legitimate by any federal agency.

Unlike most of the detector dog service companies, AMDETECH is a certified Government Services Administration (GSA) contract holder. While GSA contracts are not required for non-governmental contracts, certification is the result of a one (1) year background investigation process by the government that a vendor must successfully complete before achieving this status. This provides re-assurance to a client or potential client that the contract holder operates a credible business operation, open to close scrutiny.

Superior performance in the field begins here. Properly bred, selected, tested and trained dogs and well-trained handlers are a prerequisite for an effective detector dog program. In 2005, AMDETECH acquired its long-time detector dog-training contractor, Southern Hills Kennels in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Our client list includes, the FBI (Miami), the Seattle DEA Task Force, the U. S. Department of State, the Royal Bahamian Police, NATO-Afghanistan, CESA-Army of the Dominican Republic, Florida Department of Corrections, the City of Miami Police Department, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and dozens of additional law enforcement agencies, nationwide. Also, we provide trained detector dogs for private companies and agencies such as American K9 Detection Services (Iraq, Afghanistan) We employ four full-time trainers and four part-time trainers at this facility, and use only real explosives for training. SHK holds an explosives registration from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as well as a license from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.

The Southern Hills Kennels facility has been in operation since 1988. Accessible training environments include an international airport, schools, auto auction lots, marinas, and U.S. Coast Guard vessels. Bill Heiser, president of Southern Hills Kennels and director of K9 training for AMDETECH, is certified by the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). Unlike our competitors, we train and deploy our own dogs, bred, selected and trained for superior performance. We are not dependent on any outside vendor for the training of excellent detector dogs. We have between 45 and 50 detector dogs available at this facility at all times. This allows us to respond to an unexpected need for dogs anywhere in the world in 48 hours or less.

AMDETECH owns and operates this state-of-the-art K9 training facility for up to 40 dogs located in the midst of a 200+ acre biotech farm owned by our chairman in Woodstock, CT. This kennel serves as a support facility for AMDETECH clients in the northeast including those in Boston, Cape Cod, New York City and Baltimore. Training for Tekscent deployment, a specialized technical application for gas/oil pipeline leak detection is also done at this location.

As time and funding opportunities allow, AMDETECH plans to develop a transgenic breeding program at this facility in order to establish an uninterrupted supply of high quality working dogs with the characteristics needed for the demanding work of homeland security contraband detection services. This facility gives AMDETECH the ability to add kennels and training buildings as the demand for services increase. Additionally, by its strategic location in the northeast area of the country, it provides a location from which we can drive dogs/handlers north as far as the Canadian Maritime Provinces, Montreal and Quebec City, and as far south as Norfolk, VA in 12 hours or less.

AMDETECH owns and maintains this fully-licensed, twenty (20) dog kennel in Hialeah, Florida to support its cruise ship operations in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. Due to the urban location of this facility, no training is done on-site, however, between work assignments, the detector dogs based at this location are taken off-premises to participate in weekly proficiency training exercises at warehouses, vehicle lots and port facilities.

We employ a full-time kennel master who lives on-site and is responsible for maintenance and well-being of the detector dogs in his care. This gives us the ability to respond to any emergency situation, 24 hours per day in South Florida. None of our competitors can provide this level of support to the Port of Miami and Port Everglades.
